ABOUT US
The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Award Winning Theatre for Young Audiences Program offers a yearly production specifically geared towards young people. This program includes a performance geared to a specific age group, a backstage tour, a workshop and Q & A immediately following the performance, and pre-performance assemblies in the school. The students involved in the production develop the educational materials under the supervision of the director/theatre for youth professor. The Theatre for Young Audience program has been the recipient of two prestigious Ira and Ineva Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment Grants: from 2004-2007 for their “Multicultural Theatre in Wisconsin Elementary Schools,” and from 2011-2015 for “TYA at Taliesin.” The latter makes it possible to offer the annual production for an additional two weeks to rural schools in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hillside Theatre at Taliesin, after its regular run in the University’s Mitchell or Hemsley Theatres.
We also offer evening and matinee public performances. For more information please visit the UW Madison box office webpage.
