Meet the Education Team!

Sunghee Pak  is very excited to join this great team as her first production experience. She studied English Literature in Korea, and two years ago, with her lovely cat, came to Madison to study Theatre and Drama (she loves her cat, but also thinks that she could have had a lovely penguin as well if her fridge and bathtub were larger). Her theatre experience includes being a witch for a very short time, and greeting everybody who comes into the theatre as a house manager.

Jacob Hellman is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, his favorite birds are ravens and orioles, but due to the At The Ark At Eight, he now has a soft spot for penguins. Some fun facts about Jacob are that he speaks Hebrew fluently and used to live in Jerusalem, Israel, and saw many of the places mentioned in the Bible. In his free time, he loves cooking and baking, and his hobbies include ballroom dance, where he has to dress like a grown-up, and doing community service with Alpha Phi Omega, where he gets to wear t-shirts and jeans.

Dong-uk Kim is a second year PhD student in the Theatre and Drama program at UW-Madison. It has been more than ten years since he has seen an actual penguin (in real life), but enjoys cartoons and movies that have penguins in them. Working with penguins on stage was one of the highlights of his life in Wisconsin and, of course, he likes pepperoni pizza.

James Gavins is a student at the University of Wisconsin. He likes making music, dancing, and making people laugh. He loves eating food. Food is one of the greatest things on Earth to James. He came to UW as a part of the First Wave Hip Hop Theater Ensemble. He has also was a dancer on cruise ships.

Claire Mason has traveled around the world performing and working on theatre shows.  Though originally from Wyoming where it is too cold for doves but too dry for penguins, she did get to spend time with the Yellow Eyed Penguins of New Zealand when she lived there as a young girl!  As a theatre maker she has especially loved pretending to be a piece of fizzy candy at the Gaiety School of Acting in Ireland, watching productions like this one in South Africa, and directing musicals with a lot of singing and dancing in the UK.
